Skills for Success for New Yoga Teachers
Thy is excited to run this course again! The last one run in September and was so beneficial for the teachers who participated! It’s for new yoga teachers who have recently completed a Yoga Teacher Training (usually 200hrs) and are keen to get started on their yoga teaching career journeys.

This would also be a great course for teachers who have not completed training in a while, maybe feeling a bit stagnant, and looking for inspiration on how to gain more work with their desired demographic, or wondering how to increase their current number of classes taught, or how to start a completely new venture in the yoga teaching realm and would like some direction.

The course is 20 hours, and as Thy is a member of Yoga Australia, those who require CPD points, are able to use this course to earn them. This course is also an amazing opportunity to connect with other yoga teachers, to share ideas, for peer support, or even to build your network of those you trust for class covers when you go on holiday!

Let’s cut to the chase! Read below the specifics
of what Thy will cover over the weekend.

Course objectives:

  • Best practices for starting up your yoga business; what you need to know (certificates, licenses you need to have) before you start teaching yoga publicly, info about yoga governing bodies and should you join one?, how to prepare for a yoga audition/interview
  • Creating an effective Yoga CV and cover letters for corporate yoga, gyms/fitness centres, and yoga studios
  • How to start obtaining yoga teaching work in Sydney or tips on increasing your weekly number of yoga classes
  • Understanding the different types of hands-on adjustments & assists, the importance of them, and actively practising the ones that are most effective and most often used/needed in your classes
  • PRACTICE TEACHING. Gives you the opportunity to practice teaching cues, to help you practice teaching to students; practicing teaching to gain confidence and tips to help you get comfortable teaching; includes live feedback with Thy as you teach the other participants.
  • Learn how to most effectively and practically sequence yoga sessions for your students, considering their needs
  • How to integrate class themes for each type of client/students you have, or would like to engage (corporates, yoga studio, gyms, fitness centres (MMA gyms, F45 gyms)
  • Practical meditation practices, pranayama techniques and yin yoga sessions (Thy will go over and provide resources)
  • Overview of social media platforms and which one(s) might be most effective for you, as well as etiquette and best practices
  • You can come and observe one public yoga class that Thy is teaching to get a feel for pacing of teaching a class, how she adjusts/assists whilst teaching, etc…
